Milk producers from the Kamdhenu Hitkari Society met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today to express their heartfelt gratitude for enhancing the freight subsidy on milk transportation from Rs. 1.50 to Rs. 3 per litre. The delegation, representing nearly 6,000 families, acknowledged the Chief Minister’s farmer-friendly approach and his consistent efforts to uplift the rural economy of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted that Himachal Pradesh is the first state in the country<\/strong> to offer freight subsidies to milk producers\u2014an initiative that is not only pioneering but also significantly impactful for small dairy farmers in remote areas. They thanked the Chief Minister for his empathetic policies aimed at easing the financial burden of transportation and ensuring fair returns for their produce.<\/p>\n

Strengthening the Rural Economy<\/strong>
\nResponding to the delegation, CM Sukhu reaffirmed his government\u2019s commitment to empowering farmers and livestock rearers. He emphasized that multiple initiatives have been launched to boost rural income and support agricultural sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cHimachal Pradesh is offering the highest minimum support prices (MSP) for milk in the country<\/strong>, with cow milk being procured at Rs. 51 per litre and buffalo milk at Rs. 61 per litre,\u201d the Chief Minister said. He further informed that the State is also offering MSP for various naturally grown crops\u2014Rs. 60 per kg for wheat and barley, Rs. 40 per kg for maize, and Rs. 90 per kg for raw turmeric.<\/p>\n

CM Sukhu urged farmers to take full advantage of these schemes to enhance their household earnings and secure a better future. He also confirmed his participation in a function being organized by the Kamdhenu Milk Society in the first week of September this year.<\/p>\n

Support from the Legislative Wing<\/strong>
\nMLA Sanjay Awasthy, who was present during the meeting, also thanked the Chief Minister for his inclusive and forward-looking initiatives. He stated that CM Sukhu has consistently demonstrated sensitivity towards the issues faced by farmers, laborers, and marginalized communities. \u201cThe Chief Minister\u2019s top priority remains the upliftment of the rural economy, and his welfare schemes are already showing encouraging results on the ground,\u201d Awasthy said.<\/p>\n
