The Election Commission of India (ECI) today issued the Draft Electoral Roll for Bihar<\/strong> as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025<\/strong>, following the successful completion of the enumeration phase. The draft list was officially published on August 1, 2025, and is now publicly accessible via the ECI\u2019s voter portal: https:\/\/voters.eci.gov.in\/download-eroll?stateCode=S04<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A total of 90,712 booth-wise draft electoral rolls<\/strong> covering all 243 Assembly Constituencies<\/strong> have been shared with political parties by the 38 District Election Officers (DEOs)<\/strong>. This marks a crucial step ahead of upcoming elections, ensuring transparency and inclusiveness in the electoral process.<\/p>\n

Transparent and Inclusive Effort Across Bihar<\/h3>\n

The process is being hailed as a stellar example of transparent and impartial teamwork<\/strong>. Officials including the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar, DEOs from all 38 districts, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 2,976 Assistant EROs (AEROs), and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were engaged in this massive outreach. They were supported by lakhs of volunteers and 1.60 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs)<\/strong> nominated by 12 political parties, who all worked diligently to ensure that every eligible elector was accounted for.<\/p>\n

Record Elector Participation<\/h3>\n

More than 7.24 crore electors<\/strong> participated in the enumeration phase by filling the required forms. All these names have now been incorporated into the Draft Electoral Roll.<\/p>\n

One-Month Claims & Objections Period Open: August 1 to September 1<\/h3>\n

The Election Commission has now opened the Claims and Objections period<\/strong>, which will remain active until September 1, 2025<\/strong>. During this time:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Eligible voters<\/strong> can add their names<\/strong> by submitting Form 6<\/strong> along with a declaration form.<\/li>\n
  • Young voters<\/strong> who turned 18 by July 1 or will turn 18 by October 1 are also eligible to register using the same process.<\/li>\n
  • Political parties and individual electors<\/strong> can raise objections or request deletion of ineligible entries through the prescribed format submitted to the concerned ERO.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Protection Against Arbitrary Deletion<\/h3>\n

    In a strong move to protect voters’ rights, the ECI has clarified that no name can be deleted<\/strong> from the draft roll without a proper hearing<\/strong> and written order<\/strong> by the ERO\/AERO. These orders are subject to appeal before the District Magistrate and the CEO.<\/p>\n

    Public Appeal<\/h3>\n

    The Election Commission urges all eligible citizens to verify their entries in the draft roll<\/strong> and take action during this month-long window to ensure full participation in the democratic process.<\/p>\n
