Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Kartavya Bhavan<\/strong> at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on August 6 at 12:15 PM<\/strong>, marking a significant milestone in the government\u2019s vision of modern, efficient, and citizen-centric administration. The Prime Minister will also address a public programme later in the day at 6:30 PM<\/strong> on Kartavya Path.<\/p>\n

Kartavya Bhavan, also known as Kartavya Bhavan – 03<\/strong>, is a part of the Central Vista redevelopment and is the first of several Common Central Secretariat buildings<\/strong> being developed to bring together key Ministries under one roof. This massive administrative shift is expected to enhance inter-ministerial coordination<\/strong>, reduce delays in decision-making, and streamline policy execution through improved collaboration.<\/p>\n

A Leap Toward Modern Governance<\/h3>\n

Spanning 1.5 lakh square meters<\/strong> across two basements and seven floors<\/strong>, Kartavya Bhavan will house crucial Ministries and Departments including:<\/p>\n

  • Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Equipped with IT-enabled secure workspaces<\/strong>, smart access controls<\/strong>, centralized command and surveillance systems<\/strong>, and advanced HVAC<\/strong>, the building sets a new benchmark for governance infrastructure<\/strong> in India.<\/p>\n

    Eco-Conscious and Energy Efficient<\/h3>\n

    One of the standout features of Kartavya Bhavan is its strong commitment to sustainability<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    • GRIHA-4 rating targeted<\/strong> for green buildings<\/li>\n
    • Double-glazed fa\u00e7ades<\/strong> for insulation and noise reduction<\/li>\n
    • Rooftop solar panels<\/strong> generating over 5.34 lakh units of electricity annually<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Solar water heating<\/strong> covering over 25% of hot water needs<\/li>\n
    • Rainwater harvesting<\/strong> and zero-discharge wastewater management<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • In-house solid waste processing<\/strong> and use of recycled construction materials<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • 30% lower energy usage<\/strong> through smart systems and efficient architecture<\/li>\n
    • EV charging stations<\/strong> to promote green mobility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Special measures like LED lighting with motion sensors<\/strong>, smart lifts<\/strong>, special energy-efficient glass<\/strong>, and automated building management systems<\/strong> will further reduce the carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

      Addressing Aging Infrastructure<\/h3>\n

      With Ministries currently operating from older structures like Shastri Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, and Krishi Bhawan<\/strong>, many of which date back to the 1950s\u201370s, Kartavya Bhavan will replace outdated facilities that are expensive to maintain and environmentally inefficient. This modern infrastructure aims to boost employee productivity<\/strong>, ensure better service delivery<\/strong>, and enhance the well-being<\/strong> of government personnel.<\/p>\n
