In a major step towards the conservation and promotion of India\u2019s rich medicinal plant heritage, the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB)<\/strong> under the Ministry of Ayush<\/strong> signed two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) today at Nirman Bhawan<\/strong>, New Delhi. The event was presided over by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The MoUs are expected to significantly strengthen efforts in the preservation of rare and endangered medicinal plant species<\/strong> and enhance public engagement<\/strong> through educational initiatives in the field of traditional medicine.<\/p>\n

\n

MoU 1: NMPB and IshVed-Bioplants Venture<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The first MoU was signed between NMPB<\/strong> and IshVed-Bioplants Venture<\/strong>, Pune. This strategic partnership aims to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Conserve and maintain the germplasm<\/strong> of rare, endangered, and threatened (RET)<\/strong> medicinal plant species using advanced tissue culture techniques<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Develop and implement cultivation and maintenance protocols to ensure sustainable supply of RET medicinal plants<\/strong> crucial to the Ayush industry.<\/li>\n
  • Harness the combined technical expertise of both organizations to benefit stakeholders, farmers, and industry partners<\/strong> engaged in the medicinal plant sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This initiative is expected to bridge the gap between traditional knowledge and scientific conservation methods<\/strong>, ensuring that vital plant species used in Ayurveda and other Ayush systems are not lost to time or environmental degradation.<\/p>\n

    MoU 2: NMPB, AIIA, and AIIMS, New Delhi<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The second tripartite MoU<\/strong> was signed among NMPB<\/strong>, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA)<\/strong>, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi<\/strong> to establish a National Medicinal Plants Garden<\/strong> within the AIIMS campus.<\/p>\n

    Key objectives of this collaboration include:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Creating a living repository of medicinal plants<\/strong> accessible to patients, students, researchers, and visitors<\/strong> from across the country.<\/li>\n
    • Enhancing public awareness<\/strong> about the therapeutic and ecological value<\/strong> of medicinal plants.<\/li>\n
    • Fostering cross-institutional collaboration between Ayush and modern medicine<\/strong> systems for knowledge exchange and outreach<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The garden will serve as an educational and awareness platform that showcases India\u2019s diverse medicinal flora and promotes evidence-based traditional healthcare<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Union Minister Highlights National Vision<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Speaking at the event, Prataprao Jadhav<\/strong> emphasized that the MoUs reflect the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/strong> to build a healthier and self-reliant India by 2047<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      \u201cBy integrating traditional knowledge with modern science, we are making meaningful progress toward conserving and promoting India\u2019s natural wealth. These MoUs are more than collaborations\u2014they are a commitment to preserving our heritage for future generations,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
