In a groundbreaking advancement for Himachal Pradesh\u2019s healthcare sector, Chief Minister\u00a0Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu<\/strong> today inaugurated the State\u2019s first robotic surgery facility<\/strong> at the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties (AIMSS), Chamiyana (Shimla)<\/strong>. The occasion marked a historic moment as the first robotic surgery was successfully performed at the institute in the CM\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sukhu announced significant allocations to boost healthcare infrastructure:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Rs. 23 crore<\/strong> for establishing an in-house automated laboratory<\/strong> at AIMSS Chamiyana<\/li>\n
  • Rs. 11 crore<\/strong> for constructing a hostel<\/strong> to accommodate medical staff and students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    He also announced the recruitment of lab and dialysis technicians<\/strong> and the creation of new medical departments<\/strong>. A high-end 3-Tesla MRI machine<\/strong> will soon be installed to enhance diagnostic capabilities.<\/p>\n

    Robotic Surgery for All<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Highlighting the importance of this new facility, the Chief Minister said, “Five years ago, I personally underwent robotic surgery, and today we\u2019ve made this cutting-edge technology accessible to the common people of Himachal.” He added that robotic surgery services will be rolled out<\/strong> in a phased manner<\/strong> at IGMC Shimla, Nerchowk, Tanda<\/strong>, and Hamirpur Medical Colleges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Modernizing Healthcare: A Rs. 3,000-Crore Push<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The CM reiterated his government\u2019s commitment to health sector reforms, stating that over Rs. 3,000 crore<\/strong> is being invested to upgrade healthcare technology and replace outdated machines<\/strong>, including the 20-year-old MRI machine<\/strong> at IGMC Shimla.<\/p>\n

    In a long-awaited move, the state has also increased technician course seats after 23 years<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

      • Seats increased from 10 to 50<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • At Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Seats raised from 18 to 50<\/strong> for the same programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Automated in-house laboratories will also be set up at Tanda, Nerchowk, Hamirpur, Nahan, and Chamba<\/strong>, further easing patient care and diagnostics.<\/p>\n

          Chamiyana Leads with Digital Innovation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          In another first, the Chamiyana hospital became the first government hospital in Himachal Pradesh to launch a fully paperless lab system<\/strong>. Patients can now access all their reports via mobile phones, while doctors will be able to review them directly through the hospital system.<\/p>\n

          CM Sukhu praised the staff and instructed officials to streamline registration processes to make them more patient-friendly.<\/p>\n

          Leaders Applaud Revolutionary Steps<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil<\/strong> called the launch of robotic surgery a \u201crevolutionary leap\u201d<\/strong> and said Himachal Pradesh is poised to set an example for other states in modern healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n

          Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh<\/strong> thanked the CM for his bold initiatives and urged for improved residential facilities for medical staff.<\/p>\n

          Dr. Brij Sharma<\/strong>, Principal of the Chamiyana Medical College, highlighted that the robotic surgery equipment installed is among the most advanced in India\u2014even more sophisticated than what\u2019s available at PGI Chandigarh<\/strong>, and on par with AIIMS Delhi<\/strong>. The facility plans to perform over 400 robotic surgeries<\/strong> in the next six months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

          A Vision for Vyavastha Parivartan<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          Stressing on the theme of \u201cVyavastha Parivartan\u201d (Systemic Transformation)<\/strong>, CM Sukhu said he is personally engaging with doctors across the state to drive healthcare reforms. After detailed discussions in Shimla and Tanda, he will soon visit Nerchowk<\/strong> to gather feedback and implement changes.<\/p>\n

          The inauguration event was attended by MLA Ajay Solanki<\/strong>, Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor (Media) Naresh Chauhan<\/strong>, Mayor of Shimla Surender Chauhan<\/strong>, Chief Minister\u2019s Secretary Rakesh Kanwar<\/strong>, and other prominent dignitaries.<\/p>\n
