On the auspicious occasion of Independence Day, the Border Security Force (BSF) proudly elevated its dedicated and valiant soldier, Megh Singh, to the rank of Inspector\u2014marking the culmination of his remarkable journey from Constable to Inspector.<\/p>\n

Sharing details of this achievement, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Vallabh Government College, Mandi, informed that the Rank-Pinning Ceremony was held at the BSF Sector Headquarters, Malda. The ceremony was graced by the august presence of Deputy Inspector General Mrutyunjay Mahapatra (IPS), Commandant Ajit Kumar Singh, Commandant Timira Kanta Mandhata, along with several senior and subordinate officers, who honored Inspector Megh Singh for his distinguished service.<\/p>\n

Hailing from Balh Tikkar, a remote and underprivileged village in Chauhar Valley, Tehsil Padhar, District Mandi (Himachal Pradesh), Megh Singh\u2019s life is an exemplary saga of struggle, perseverance, education, and patriotism. Despite economic hardships, his passion for donning the uniform and serving the nation led him to join the Border Security Force as a Constable in 2007.<\/p>\n

Parallel to his service, he pursued higher education with determination. Through distance learning from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) at the study center of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, he earned postgraduate degrees in Journalism & Mass Communication and Political Science & International Relations. Guided by Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, he successfully completed a research project on the theme:
\n\u201cHuman Rights and Media: A Solution to the Problems of Indo-Bangladesh Border Inhabitants.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Chaman stated: \u201cInspector Megh Singh displayed brilliance, hard work, discipline, and perseverance during his research project\u2014qualities that he continues to embody in his professional life.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2017, Megh Singh cleared the competitive examination and was promoted to the post of Sub-Inspector. After serving with distinction in this role for over eight years, he has now risen to the prestigious rank of Inspector.<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions in multiple domains: anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh, border security along the India-Bangladesh frontier in Meghalaya (Mopat, Shillong, Tura) and West Bengal (Raniganj, Siliguri, Malda), as well as vigilance duties at the Sector Headquarters. His exemplary service has earned him 49 commendations and awards, including DG-CR (01), ADG (01), IG (04), DIG (12), and Commandant (31).<\/p>\n

Expressing his sentiments on this proud occasion, Inspector Megh Singh said: \u201cToday, I feel honored to have completed 8 years, 3 months, and 8 days of service as a Sub-Inspector. During this period, I served on the border as a Field Commander, as a Trainer at the Battalion Headquarters, and as part of the Vigilance Cell at the Sector Headquarters. In every role, I upheld dedication, discipline, and patriotism above all. For me, the Sub-Inspector\u2019s uniform was not just a rank, but a symbol of duty and service. Now, as an Inspector, I embrace this new responsibility with pride and renewed resolve.\u201d<\/p>\n

The BSF, widely known as the \u201cFirst Line of Defence\u201d of the nation, finds in Inspector Megh Singh a shining example of courage and determination. His journey conveys an inspiring message to the youth:<\/p>\n
