Describing the recently announced GST Reforms 2.0 as a “historic and transformative step,” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and Himachal Pradesh Chief Spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal hailed the move by the Narendra Modi-led central government as a major Diwali gift to the nation. He emphasized that the reforms would bring direct relief to the common people, strengthen the industrial sector, and stimulate the national economy.<\/p>\n

Jamwal said that the latest phase of GST reforms has significantly simplified the tax structure, making essential goods more affordable for the general public. \u201cThis is not just a technical tax reform\u2014it\u2019s a people-centric decision aimed at reducing the cost of living for millions of families across the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Key Sectors to Benefit<\/h4>\n

Jamwal highlighted that tax rates have been reduced on household items, automobiles, and consumer durables, providing a much-needed respite to families, especially during the festive season. He stated that with major festivals like Diwali approaching, these changes will help consumers make purchases without feeling a financial pinch.<\/p>\n

Cement Sector:<\/h4>\n

He noted that the cement industry would also benefit from reduced GST rates, which will, in turn, bring down construction costs. This will be particularly impactful in rural and urban housing sectors and infrastructure development projects. \u201cCheaper construction materials mean more housing, more infrastructure, and most importantly, more jobs for the youth,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Automobile Sector:<\/h4>\n

GST rate cuts on two-wheelers and four-wheelers are likely to make vehicle purchases more affordable, thereby increasing consumer demand. This will energize the automotive market and open up new employment opportunities in the sector.<\/p>\n

Consumer Durables:<\/h4>\n

Products like televisions, refrigerators, air-conditioners, and washing machines are also expected to become cheaper. \u201cThese are products that the middle-class aspires to buy during festive seasons. Lower prices will encourage purchasing and enhance festive celebrations,\u201d Jamwal said.<\/p>\n

Financial Sector to Gain Momentum:<\/h4>\n

Rakesh Jamwal also pointed out that the banking and financial services sector would benefit indirectly. As consumer demand rises, there will be increased demand for loans and credit, bringing strength to the financial ecosystem and encouraging further investment and consumption.<\/p>\n

A Vision Rooted in Inclusive Growth:<\/h4>\n

Praising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jamwal said that the GST Reforms 2.0 reflect the government\u2019s consistent commitment to \u201cSabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.\u201d According to him, this is not merely an economic policy decision, but a strategic national move to empower industries, uplift common citizens, and accelerate India’s global economic standing.<\/p>\n

“India is already the world’s fastest-growing economy,” he said, “and reforms like GST 2.0 will only strengthen our global position, boost investor confidence, and pave the way for a more inclusive and robust economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
