In a landmark event for the North East region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/strong> today virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs. 9,000 crore in Aizawl, Mizoram<\/strong>, spanning key sectors such as railways, roadways, energy, education, and sports.<\/p>\n

Speaking via video conferencing due to adverse weather conditions, the Prime Minister paid his respects to Pathian<\/strong>, the Supreme God of Mizoram, and expressed regret for not being able to attend the event in person. He highlighted the historic significance of the day as Aizawl is now officially on India\u2019s railway map<\/strong> with the inauguration of the Bairabi\u2013Sairang rail line<\/strong>, built at a cost of over Rs. 8,000 crore. He also flagged off three new express trains connecting Mizoram with Delhi, Guwahati, and Kolkata.<\/p>\n

Calling the moment a \u201chistoric day for the nation,\u201d Modi emphasized Mizoram\u2019s growing role in the Act East Policy<\/strong> and the emerging North East Economic Corridor<\/strong>, saying the region is becoming the growth engine of India<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Modi also highlighted the government\u2019s commitment to infrastructure and connectivity, mentioning projects like the Aizawl Bypass<\/strong>, the Chhimtuipui River Bridge<\/strong>, new LPG bottling plant<\/strong>, and multiple roads under PM-DevINE<\/strong> and NESIDS<\/strong> schemes.<\/p>\n

On economic reforms, he underlined the NextGen GST<\/strong>, which he said has lowered taxes on many essentials, easing the burden on families. \u201cIndia\u2019s economy grew 7.8% in Q1 2025\u201326, making us the fastest-growing major economy<\/strong>,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister lauded Mizoram’s contribution to sports and education and inaugurated Eklavya Model Residential Schools<\/strong>, a Khelo India Indoor Sports Hall<\/strong>, and other social infrastructure aimed at empowering youth.<\/p>\n

The event was also attended by Governor V.K. Singh<\/strong>, Chief Minister Lalduhoma<\/strong>, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n
