Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs. 7,300 crore in Churachandpur, Manipur today, marking a major step towards revitalizing infrastructure, connectivity, and welfare in the conflict-affected region. Addressing a large public gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted the government\u2019s commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive Manipur.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe land of Manipur is a land of courage and determination. The hills here are a priceless gift of nature, reflecting the resilience and hard work of its people,\u201d Modi said, saluting the spirit of the people of Manipur.<\/p>\n

Massive Boost to Connectivity and Infrastructure<\/h4>\n

Reiterating the importance of connectivity in this border state, the Prime Minister noted that the government has worked on two fronts: significantly increasing budget allocations for road and rail projects, and extending road connectivity to remote villages.<\/p>\n

Modi announced that new highway projects worth Rs. 8,700 crore are underway in addition to the Rs. 3,700 crore already spent on National Highways. He highlighted the progress of the Jiribam\u2013Imphal railway line, a Rs. 22,000 crore project that will connect the state capital to the national rail network. The newly constructed Imphal Airport, built at a cost of Rs. 400 crore, is already operational, alongside new helicopter services.<\/p>\n

Development With a Human Touch<\/h4>\n

The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s focus on pro-poor and tribal-focused development. Over 60,000 pucca houses have been constructed under central schemes. In the health sector, a new medical college in Churachandpur and modern healthcare facilities under the PM-DIVINE scheme are improving access in hill districts. Nearly 2.5 lakh patients in Manipur have received free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, saving Rs350 crore.<\/p>\n

Modi also highlighted the success of the \u2018Har Ghar Nal Se Jal\u2019 initiative, which has increased tap water coverage in Manipur from around 30,000 households to over 3.5 lakh.<\/p>\n

Commitment to Peace and Rehabilitation<\/h4>\n

Addressing recent unrest, the Prime Minister acknowledged the violence in the state and said he had met with affected individuals in relief camps. He reaffirmed the government\u2019s support for peace efforts, noting that dialogues with various hill and valley groups are ongoing.<\/p>\n

A special rehabilitation package of Rs. 3,000 crore has been approved, including Rs. 500 crore for displaced families and support for constructing 7,000 new homes.<\/p>\n

Focus on Tribal Empowerment and Education<\/h4>\n

The Prime Minister emphasized tribal development as a national priority. The Dharati Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan is being implemented in 500+ tribal villages in Manipur, and 18 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being established to boost education in the hill regions.<\/p>\n

Highlighting Manipur\u2019s legacy of women\u2019s empowerment, Modi also announced that working women\u2019s hostels are being built to support young women pursuing careers and education.<\/p>\n

A New Dawn of Hope<\/h4>\n

\u201cManipur\u2019s culture, its traditions, and its spirit are integral to the idea of India,\u201d Modi said. \u201cWe are working with the goal of making Manipur a symbol of peace, prosperity, and progress. A new dawn of hope and trust is rising in this beautiful land.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded by assuring the people that the Government of India stands firmly with Manipur in its journey toward peace and inclusive development.<\/p>\n
