Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a series of transformative development projects worth over Rs. 1,200 crore in Imphal, Manipur today. Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government\u2019s unwavering commitment to ushering in an era of peace, prosperity, and inclusive growth in the state.<\/p>\n

Describing Manipur as the \u201ccrown jewel adorning the crest of Mother India,\u201d<\/em> the Prime Minister hailed the region\u2019s historical, cultural, and strategic significance. He called for sustained peace and development, emphasizing that dialogue and harmony between the hills and the valley are essential for the state\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n

Key Projects Unveiled<\/h3>\n

Among the major projects inaugurated were:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • New Civil Secretariat Building<\/strong> at Mantripukhri<\/li>\n
  • IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Building<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Manipur Police Headquarters<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Manipur Bhawans<\/strong> in New Delhi and Kolkata<\/li>\n
  • Four new all-women Ima Markets<\/strong> in different districts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    These projects, the Prime Minister said, would not only create thousands of job opportunities but also significantly improve public service delivery, digital infrastructure, and women-led entrepreneurship in the state.<\/p>\n

    \u201cManipur is a Land of Potential and Courage\u201d<\/h3>\n

    Highlighting Manipur\u2019s contribution to the freedom struggle and national defence, Modi recalled Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose\u2019s words describing Manipur as the gateway to India\u2019s independence<\/em>. He noted the hoisting of the Indian National Army\u2019s flag on Manipuri soil and paid tribute to the state\u2019s martyrs and soldiers, especially Shaheed Deepak Chingkham<\/strong>, who lost his life during Operation Sindoor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    \u201cEven today, many sons and daughters from Manipur are proudly serving the nation across India\u2019s defence forces,\u201d said the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

    Focus on Infrastructure and Connectivity<\/h3>\n

    The Prime Minister announced that two mega projects are underway:<\/p>\n

    • Manipur Urban Roads Project<\/strong> \u2013 Over Rs. 3,600 crore<\/li>\n
    • Manipur Infotech Development Project<\/strong> \u2013 Over Rs. 500 crore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      He added that these initiatives will modernize roads, enhance digital infrastructure, and position Imphal as one of India\u2019s model cities under the Smart City Mission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      He also reiterated the government’s focus on expanding National Highways<\/strong> and ensuring last-mile road connectivity<\/strong> to every village in the state.<\/p>\n

      Support for Women and Youth<\/h3>\n

      Modi emphasized the vital role of Manipuri women in the state\u2019s economy and society, describing Ima Keithel<\/strong> (Mother\u2019s Market) as a shining example of women-led enterprise.<\/p>\n

      \u201cFour new Ima Markets have been inaugurated today. These are not just markets, but centres of empowerment for the mothers and daughters of Manipur,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

      The Prime Minister also highlighted the government\u2019s investment in youth development. He cited the establishment of:<\/p>\n

      • National Sports University<\/strong> in Manipur<\/li>\n
      • Marjing Polo Complex<\/strong> (home to the world\u2019s tallest polo statue)<\/li>\n
      • Olympian Park<\/strong> honoring local sporting heroes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        He said these projects align with the recently launched Khelo India Niti<\/strong>, which aims to transform India into a global sports powerhouse with Manipur playing a pivotal role.<\/p>\n

        Economic Relief and Tourism Boost<\/h3>\n

        To ease the cost of living and boost local tourism, the Prime Minister announced a significant reduction in GST<\/strong> on essential items such as:<\/p>\n

        • Soap, shampoo, hair oil<\/li>\n
        • Clothing and footwear<\/li>\n
        • Cement and construction materials<\/li>\n
        • Hotel stays and food services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          \u201cThese changes will help families save more and attract more tourists, benefiting everyone from taxi drivers to homestay operators,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

          Rebuilding Peace and Restoring Normalcy<\/h3>\n

          Acknowledging the difficult months of unrest in the state, Modi reiterated the Centre\u2019s commitment to peace and rehabilitation. He announced:<\/p>\n

          • 7,000 new houses<\/strong> for displaced families<\/li>\n
          • A Rs. 3,000 crore special assistance package<\/strong><\/li>\n
          • Rs. 500 crore<\/strong> specifically allocated for relief and rehabilitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            \u201cThe new Police Headquarters will play a crucial role in restoring order and ensuring safety for all,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

            A Message to Nepal<\/h3>\n

            In a unique diplomatic gesture, Modi also addressed the people of Nepal<\/strong>, congratulating\u00a0Sushila Ji<\/strong> on becoming the country\u2019s first woman Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

            \u201cOn behalf of 140 crore Indians, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Sushila Ji. I am confident she will guide Nepal toward peace, prosperity, and stability,\u201d said Modi. He also praised Nepal\u2019s youth for their recent civic participation, calling it a sign of a national resurgence.<\/p>\n
