Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur<\/strong>, visited rain-ravaged areas of Dharampur Assembly segment<\/strong> in his constituency on Wednesday morning to assess the extensive damage caused by recent torrential rains and flash floods.<\/p>\n

Describing the situation as \u201cdeeply painful\u201d<\/strong>, Thakur said it was distressing to witness the devastation caused by natural calamities in Himachal Pradesh. \u201cThe severe impact of natural disasters\u2014cloudbursts, heavy rainfall, and waterlogging\u2014has led to massive loss of life and property. It is heartbreaking to see the beautiful landscape of Himachal suffering so much,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

During his visit, Thakur met several disaster-affected families<\/strong>, extended his condolences, and assured them of full support. \u201cI personally visited the affected areas in Dharampur today and interacted with people facing severe hardships. I want to assure everyone that the central government is closely monitoring the situation in Himachal Pradesh<\/strong>, and every possible effort will be made to help the disaster victims,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Thakur was accompanied by BJP leader from Dharampur, Rajat Thakur<\/strong>, who provided a detailed briefing on the scale of destruction<\/strong>. Rajat Thakur highlighted that the devastation coincided with the celebration of the local Sair festival<\/strong>, turning a day of joy into one of despair. \u201cPublic and private properties have suffered unprecedented damage. HRTC buses and the local bus stand<\/strong> have incurred major losses. Shops in low-lying areas were flooded<\/strong>, causing severe losses to small traders and shopkeepers,\u201d Rajat said.<\/p>\n

He also informed Anurag Thakur about the two missing persons<\/strong> in the aftermath of the heavy rains and urged him to raise the matter with the Centre. He emphasized the need for adequate financial support for relief, rehabilitation, and long-term restoration efforts<\/strong> in the region.<\/p>\n

The local administration has already begun relief efforts, but both leaders stressed the urgency of swift central intervention<\/strong> and the release of emergency funds<\/strong> to rebuild damaged infrastructure and provide compensation to affected families.<\/p>\n
