On the first day of Navratri, Prime Minister Modi launches a slew of infrastructure, power, tourism, and health projects in Itanagar; hails Arunachal Pradesh as a beacon of patriotism, culture, and progress.<\/p>\n

In a landmark visit that underlined the strategic and developmental importance of India’s North East, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over Rs. 5,100 crore in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The Prime Minister\u2019s visit marked a significant boost to connectivity, energy, tourism, healthcare, and overall regional integration, reinforcing the Centre\u2019s \u201cNation First\u201d approach and focus on inclusive development.<\/p>\n

Addressing a large gathering amid vibrant cultural performances and warm public reception, the Prime Minister began by invoking the local deity Donyi Polo and expressing his deep affection for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. \u201cThis land of the rising sun is also a land of rising aspirations, deep patriotism, and rich cultural confluence,\u201d he remarked. \u201cFrom Tawang Monastery to the Golden Pagoda in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh is truly the pride of India.\u201d<\/p>\n

Key Announcements and Highlights:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rs. 3,700+ Crore for Hydropower:<\/h4>\n

PM Modi laid the foundation stone for two major hydroelectric projects:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Heo Hydroelectric Project (240 MW)<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Tato-I Hydroelectric Project (186 MW)<\/strong>
    \nBoth located in the Siyom sub-basin, these will strengthen Arunachal’s role as a green energy producer and generate employment for thousands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \u00a0Rs. 1,290 Crore in Infrastructure Initiatives:<\/h4>\n

    The PM launched projects in:<\/p>\n

    • Connectivity<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Health & Fire Safety<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Working Women Hostels<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Medical Infrastructure including a new Cancer Institute<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      These developments are expected to enhance the quality of life and stimulate economic activity in the region.<\/p>\n

      Major Boost to Tourism:<\/h4>\n

      A world-class Convention Centre<\/strong> in Tawang (at 9,820 feet) was also inaugurated. With capacity to host 1,500+ delegates, the centre is set to become a hub for conference tourism<\/strong>, a growing trend globally.<\/p>\n

      North East as the \u2018Ashtalakshmi\u2019 of India<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      The Prime Minister reiterated his government\u2019s unwavering commitment to the North East, calling the region the \u201cAshtalakshmi\u201d of India \u2014 representing eight states and eight forms of prosperity.<\/p>\n

      He stated, \u201cThe North East was neglected for decades due to political apathy. But since 2014, our approach is different. This region is now a driving force of India\u2019s development.\u201d<\/p>\n

      Noting that Union Ministers have collectively visited the region over 800 times<\/strong>, and he himself has visited 70+ times<\/strong>, Shri Modi affirmed, \u201cWe have bridged the emotional gap. Delhi is no longer distant from the North East \u2014 we have brought it closer than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

      Transformative Shift in Development Philosophy<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      In a scathing critique of past governments, the Prime Minister said previous regimes viewed tribal and border areas as \u201clast villages\u201d \u2014 often neglected in planning and funding. \u201cWe have turned that around,\u201d he said. \u201cToday, we call them the first villages of India<\/strong> \u2014 they are the pride of the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

      He lauded the Vibrant Villages Programme<\/strong>, under which over 450 border villages in Arunachal Pradesh<\/strong> have been transformed with new roads, electricity, internet access, and tourism potential.<\/p>\n

      Ease of Living and GST Reforms<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      The PM used the occasion to announce the nationwide rollout of next-generation GST reforms<\/strong> and the launch of the GST Savings Festival<\/strong>, which aims to offer relief to citizens ahead of the festive season.<\/p>\n

      • Only two tax slabs remain: 5% and 18%<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Many items now tax-free<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Significant savings on essentials like food, footwear, clothing, household goods, and education materials<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        He stated: \u201cWith the new GST regime, dining out, travel, and daily life have all become more affordable. This is our Diwali gift to the people of India.\u201d<\/p>\n

        Women Empowerment in Focus<\/strong><\/h3>\n

        The Prime Minister emphasized his mission to create three crore \u201cLakhpati Didis\u201d<\/strong> across the nation, ensuring financial independence and social empowerment for women. He praised Arunachal\u2019s efforts, including:<\/p>\n

        • Active participation of women in local development programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          “Empowered women mean an empowered nation,” he said.<\/p>\n

          A Vision for a Developed India by 2047<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          PM Modi connected the developmental strides of Arunachal Pradesh to India\u2019s broader vision of becoming a developed nation by its 100th year of independence in 2047. \u201cEvery region must grow in alignment with this national goal. Arunachal and the entire North East are critical to India\u2019s success story,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n

          Call to Embrace Swadeshi<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          Concluding his speech, the Prime Minister gave a clarion call for \u201cSwadeshi\u201d<\/strong>, urging citizens to support Indian-made goods to ensure self-reliance and sustainable growth.<\/p>\n

          \u201cLet us pledge to buy and sell only Indian products and declare them with pride. That is the path to a developed India \u2014 a self-reliant India.\u201d<\/p>\n
