In a significant move aimed at transforming the public education system in Himachal Pradesh, the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced that 100 Government Senior Secondary Schools will be affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)<\/strong> starting from the next academic session. These schools will function as day-boarding institutions<\/strong>, offering a comprehensive and holistic model of education.<\/p>\n

First Phase: One CBSE School in Every Assembly Constituency<\/h3>\n

As part of the first phase, at least one CBSE school will be established in every assembly constituency<\/strong> to ensure equitable access to quality education for students across all regions of the state. These institutions will follow the nationally benchmarked CBSE curriculum, which is widely recognized for its alignment with national-level competitive exams and higher education standards.<\/p>\n

A government spokesperson stated, \u201cThis initiative will not only enhance the academic competitiveness of Himachali students but also better equip them to face the challenges of the 21st century. It will open new doors for higher education, employment, and professional careers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Promoting Healthy Competition, Academic Excellence<\/h3>\n

The dual-board approach\u2014coexistence of schools under the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE)<\/strong> and newly affiliated CBSE institutions\u2014is expected to promote healthy competition<\/strong> among schools, motivating both teachers and students to improve performance and strive for excellence.<\/p>\n

The introduction of CBSE curriculum in government schools will also help standardize academic practices and evaluation methods in line with national frameworks, making students more competitive on a broader scale.<\/p>\n

New CBSE Sub-Cadre and Staff Incentive Plans<\/h3>\n

To operationalize this reform, the state government will create a separate Sub-Cadre<\/strong> for the CBSE-affiliated schools. Existing teachers will be offered the option to join this cadre. Recruitment of principals, teaching, and non-teaching staff will be carried out strictly on merit<\/strong>, taking into account academic performance, co-curricular engagement, and professional achievements.<\/p>\n
