Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport today, marking a historic milestone in India\u2019s aviation and infrastructure sectors. Alongside the airport, he launched and dedicated several developmental projects in Mumbai, including the fully underground Metro Line-3 and the \u201cMumbai One\u201d integrated mobility app.<\/p>\n

Calling the new international airport a symbol of a Viksit Bharat<\/em>, the Prime Minister said it would transform connectivity in Mumbai and position the region as one of Asia\u2019s top aviation and trade hubs. Built at a cost of Rs. 19,650 crore, the Navi Mumbai International Airport is India\u2019s largest greenfield airport project and is expected to handle 90 million passengers annually.<\/p>\n

Modi emphasized that India\u2019s progress is defined by speed and scale\u2014from bullet trains to expressways, ports to airports. \u201cIn 2014, India had only 74 airports. Today, that number has more than doubled,\u201d he said, crediting the UDAN scheme for enabling millions of first-time fliers and propelling India to become the world\u2019s third-largest domestic aviation market.<\/p>\n

He also inaugurated Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line-3, Mumbai\u2019s first fully underground metro, and launched the Mumbai One app for unified ticketing across 11 transport systems.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming his government\u2019s commitment to youth and employment, he unveiled the Rs. 60,000 crore PM Setu scheme and Maharashtra\u2019s STEP initiative for skill development in emerging technologies.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndia\u2019s strength lies in its youth,\u201d Modi said, adding that infrastructure, employment, and national security remain the cornerstones of his government\u2019s development agenda.<\/p>\n

He concluded by urging citizens to adopt swadeshi products, stating, \u201cEvery time we buy Indian, we strengthen our economy and create jobs for our youth.\u201d<\/p>\n
