In a significant step to support states hit by extreme monsoon conditions, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah has approved the advance release of Rs. 1,950.80 crore as the second installment of the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to the Governments of Karnataka and Maharashtra for the financial year 2025\u201326.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This allocation includes Rs. 384.40 crore for Karnataka and Rs. 1,566.40 crore for Maharashtra, aimed at providing immediate relief assistance to citizens affected by heavy rainfall and flooding during the recent south-west monsoon season.<\/p>\n

Centre\u2019s Continued Support to States During Natural Calamities<\/h4>\n

The Ministry of Home Affairs, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Amit Shah, reiterated the Government of India\u2019s strong commitment to stand \u201cshoulder to shoulder\u201d with State Governments during natural disasters like floods, landslides, and cloudbursts.<\/p>\n

So far in FY 2025\u201326, the Central Government has released:<\/h4>\n

Rs. 13,603.20 crore under SDRF to 27 States<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rs. 2,189.28 crore under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to 15 States<\/p>\n

Rs. 4,571.30 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 States<\/p>\n

Rs. 372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to 9 States<\/p>\n

Massive NDRF Deployment for Monsoon Relief<\/h4>\n

The year\u2019s monsoon season witnessed one of the largest disaster response operations in recent years, with the deployment of 199 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) across 30 States and Union Territories.<\/p>\n

These teams, along with Army units and Air Force support, carried out critical rescue and relief operations in regions affected by flooding, landslides, and cloudbursts.<\/p>\n

Timely Financial Assistance and Preparedness<\/h4>\n

The advance SDRF release will assist Karnataka and Maharashtra in scaling up local relief operations, rehabilitation work, and infrastructure restoration. The Centre\u2019s proactive financial support aims to ensure that affected populations receive timely assistance and that state machinery can respond swiftly to future weather-related emergencies.<\/p>\n

This move is in line with the Centre\u2019s approach to ensure disaster resilience, effective response mechanisms, and mitigation planning in coordination with state authorities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
