The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) has announced a landmark partnership with Tata Trusts through a prestigious five-year grant aimed at tackling the pressing issue of climate-induced disasters in the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The initiative, titled \u201cTata Trusts Supported Augmented Facilities for Empowering Resilience in Himalayan Hills (SAFER Hills)\u201d<\/strong>, is set to be implemented from August 2025 to July 2030<\/strong> under the Centre for Climate Change and Disaster Management (C3DAR)<\/strong> at IIT Mandi. It marks a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts between academia and philanthropy to mitigate the devastating impacts of natural disasters such as landslides, floods, and earthquakes in the region.<\/p>\n

The SAFER Hills initiative is designed to build state-of-the-art research infrastructure, develop community-based disaster resilience strategies, and deploy sustainable technological solutions to improve early warning systems, disaster preparedness, and post-disaster response.
