In a major stride towards digital governance, the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has successfully transitioned 100 of its offices to the e-Office platform. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu lauded the department for this significant achievement, terming it a landmark in the State Government\u2019s ongoing digital transformation initiatives.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister commended the dedication and teamwork of the officers and employees who ensured the successful completion of this transition within the stipulated timeline. He highlighted that the entire file movement process \u2014 from the office of the Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) to the Secretary, PWD Minister, and up to his own office \u2014 is now handled digitally through the e-Office system.<\/p>\n

He noted that the adoption of official email communication across the department has replaced traditional paper-based correspondence, leading to faster processing, enhanced transparency, and real-time tracking of files. \u201cThis reform ensures complete visibility of pending files at every level and facilitates better monitoring and retrieval of records,\u201d said the Chief Minister.<\/p>\n

Acknowledging that digital implementation often faces greater challenges at the field level than at the top, the Chief Minister appreciated the department\u2019s success in extending e-Office operations up to the Executive Engineer (XEN) level \u2014 the department\u2019s key operational tier. He described this as a significant administrative reform aligned with the State Government\u2019s vision of an accountable and technology-driven governance framework.<\/p>\n

PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh also congratulated the department, calling the digital shift a \u201chistoric step\u201d towards enhanced efficiency and transparency. He credited the accomplishment to the Chief Minister\u2019s guidance and vision for modernizing government operations through digital innovation.<\/p>\n

Providing details of the achievement, Secretary (PWD) Dr. Abhishek Jain informed that a total of 100 offices have started functioning on the e-Office platform. These include one Engineer-in-Chief office, five Chief Engineer (Zone) offices, 19 Circle offices led by Superintending Engineers, and 58 Division offices under Executive Engineers.<\/p>\n

Under the Electrical Wing, two Circle offices and five Division offices have been digitized, while the Mechanical Wing now has two Circle and four Division offices operating online. Additionally, the Chief Architect Office at Shimla, Architect Offices at Mandi and Dharamshala, and one Horticulture Division have also been brought under the e-Office system.<\/p>\n
