CM Sukhu Directs HPPCL to Fast-Track Power Projects; Sets Deadline for Major Hydel and Green Energy Initiatives.<\/h1>\n

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today directed the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) to expedite the execution of ongoing hydroelectric and renewable energy projects across the state. Chairing a review meeting in Shimla, the Chief Minister emphasized that timely completion of key power projects is vital for making Himachal Pradesh a \u201cGreen Energy State\u201d by next year.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, CM Sukhu reviewed the progress of the 450 MW Shong Tong Power Project, directing officials to ensure its completion by December 2026. He noted that more than 60 percent of the work had already been completed and instructed that the remaining work be accelerated. He also stressed that the transmission line should be laid simultaneously to ensure timely evacuation of power once the project becomes operational.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister further examined the status of other major projects, including the 130 MW Kashang-II and III, 48 MW Chanju-III, 40 MW Renuka Dam, and 191 MW Thana Plaun hydroelectric projects. He directed officials to strictly adhere to the prescribed timelines for each of these projects.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the importance of pump storage projects, CM Sukhu instructed HPPCL to initiate work on the 1,630 MW Renukaji and 270 MW Thana Plaun pump storage projects at the earliest. \u201cPump storage projects play a crucial role in meeting peak-hour electricity demand and balancing grid load,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming the government\u2019s commitment to promoting green energy, the Chief Minister urged HPPCL to speed up ongoing solar power projects and to identify new land parcels suitable for future installations across the state.<\/p>\n

CM Sukhu also reviewed the progress of the 1 MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Nalagarh, directing that it be completed by June 2026. He emphasized that HPPCL must function with greater professionalism and efficiency to meet the state\u2019s renewable energy goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe present government is determined to make Himachal Pradesh the Green Energy Capital of the country by next year,\u201d the Chief Minister said.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Secretary (Power) Rakesh Kanwar, Managing Director HPPCL Abid Hussain Sadiq, and other senior officials. Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh participated virtually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
