Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today led a large Anti-Chitta Awareness Walkathon in Dharamshala, sending out a strong message against drug trafficking and abuse in Himachal Pradesh. A huge number of school children, youth, and citizens participated in the march, which began at Dari Ground and culminated at the Police Ground, echoing slogans for a \u201cDrug-Free Himachal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Participants carried placards calling for the eradication of all forms of drugs, particularly chitta, from the state. The Chief Minister walked the entire route alongside the children, interacting with them, taking selfies, and motivating them to join the ongoing statewide fight against narcotics and psychotropic substances.<\/p>\n

Addressing a massive gathering at the Police Ground, the Chief Minister issued a stern warning to the chitta mafia, asserting that drug peddlers would no longer find refuge anywhere in Devbhoomi. He said that although the PIT-NDPS Act had remained inactive for years, the present government had enforced it effectively, leading to the detention of 46 major traffickers.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery single rupee earned from drugs will be seized, and we have already confiscated illegal property worth Rs. 46 crore,\u201d he stated. \u201cThis is the new Himachal. We will not stop until every trace of chitta is wiped out. This fight is not just against traffickers but against the entire drug mafia and their network. Anyone found selling drugs to our children will land in jail\u2014their game ends here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Special Task Force (STF), police, and departments of education, health, and social justice\u2014along with citizens\u2014were united in the mission. \u201cToday I am not here as a Chief Minister but as someone carrying a responsibility\u2014a shield to protect your future,\u201d he said, adding that the battle against chitta had entered \u201cmission mode.\u201d<\/p>\n

He acknowledged the challenges his government faced upon taking office but said they chose to confront them head-on. \u201cTogether, we have broken the backbone of major drug suppliers and inter-state gangs,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n

To further strengthen community cooperation, the Chief Minister announced cash rewards for individuals providing information on those involved in chitta trafficking. The reward structure includes:<\/p>\n

Rs. 10,000 for information on up to 2 grams of chitta<\/p>\n

Rs. 25,000 for 5 grams<\/p>\n

Rs. 50,000 for up to 25 grams<\/p>\n

Rs. 5 lakh for up to 1 kg<\/p>\n

Rs. 10 lakh for more than 1 kg<\/p>\n

Rewards above Rs. 5 lakh will be granted for assistance in busting major networks. Information can be reported via emergency helpline 112.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister also administered an anti-drug pledge to the youth. Adding a unique element to the event, a para-glider from Indru Nag landed at the Police Ground carrying an anti-chitta message.<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, Chairman HPTDC Raghubir Singh Bali, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, Vice-Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Planning Board Bhawani Singh Pathania, and several MLAs and senior officials including Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta and DGP Ashok Tiwari were present on the occasion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
