Amid widespread operational disruptions at IndiGo that have led to significant flight delays and cancellations, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has moved swiftly to curb what it described as \u201cunusually high\u201d airfares being charged on several affected routes. Concerned about potential opportunistic pricing during a period of uncertainty for thousands of travellers, the Ministry has invoked its regulatory authority to enforce strict fare disciplines across the aviation sector.<\/p>\n

According to an official statement issued on Saturday, MoCA has directed all airlines to comply with newly prescribed fare caps that take immediate effect. These caps will remain in place until operations normalise and market conditions stabilise. The Ministry noted that the decision aims to prevent distress passengers\u2014particularly senior citizens, students, and those travelling for medical needs\u2014from facing undue financial burden.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe objective is to ensure fair and reasonable pricing during this period of disruption,\u201d the statement said, emphasising that no airline will be permitted to breach the mandated limits.
