The two countries described themselves as close neighbours, like-minded partners and Allies, united by common values and long-standing ties.<\/p>\n<p>The joint statement builds on cooperation under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) and the Renewed Agenda for European Union\u2013United Kingdom Cooperation, agreed on 19 May 2025. It outlines a shared intention to further strengthen collaboration across key sectors while maintaining strong alignment with existing international and European frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides underlined the importance of working together on issues of global significance, including the safety and sustainability of international shipping. Recognising shared energy challenges, the UK and Belgium also agreed to explore avenues for cooperation and exchanges in the field of nuclear energy. The focus will be on securing reliable, competitive and low-carbon energy supplies, which are seen as essential for long-term economic stability and climate goals.<\/p>\n<p>For Belgium, the joint statement reflects the collective involvement of all levels of governance, including the federal government, the governments of Flanders and Wallonia, the Brussels Capital Region, as well as the French and German Community governments.
