The party asserted that the court\u2019s observations had dealt a blow to the agency\u2019s proceedings against senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued after the order, the Congress claimed that the ED\u2019s actions against its leadership were found to be \u201ccompletely illegal and mala fide.\u201d The party alleged that the case was driven by political considerations rather than legal merit and accused the central government of misusing investigative agencies to target opposition leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe proceedings initiated by the ED against the Congress leadership in the National Herald case stand exposed,\u201d the statement said, adding that the order reaffirmed the party\u2019s long-held position that the case was a result of \u201cvendetta politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Congress further accused the Modi government of undermining democratic institutions and using central agencies to harass political opponents.
