A meeting of the Rajput community was organized today, at Parmar Guest House, Ner Chowk in Mandi district, under the aegis of Rajput Sabha District Mandi. The meeting was presided over by eminent social worker Suraj Singh Guleria and witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Rajput community across the region.<\/p>\n

Several senior office-bearers of the Pradesh Rajput Mahasabha attended the meeting as special guests, including State President Er. K.S. Jamwal, Senior Vice President Dr. Amar Singh Guleria, Vice President Er. D.K. Chandel, Deputy General Secretary Hem Singh Thakur, Treasurer Narottam Rawat, along with special organizers Ravinder Singh Guleria and Ramesh Mehta. Office-bearers from neighboring units of Luna Pani, Sadar Mandi, Behna and Sundernagar were also present.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, the speakers called upon members of the Rajput community to unite and remain vigilant in safeguarding their constitutional right to equality in independent India. Emphasis was laid on strengthening community organization at the grassroots level to ensure collective representation and awareness.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, members expressed serious concern over what they described as neglect of the Rajput and general category communities by both the Central and State Governments in the name of caste-based appeasement. The house unanimously resolved to launch a special awareness and membership drive to organize Rajput and general category communities up to the Panchayat level, ensuring membership of every household under this campaign.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Pradesh President Er. K.S. Jamwal recalled that the Chief Minister, during a meeting held on June 28, 2025, had assured the Mahasabha that reports would be sought from concerned departments on key issues and that a special meeting would be convened for their early resolution. However, he expressed disappointment that no concrete action had been taken so far, leading to growing resentment, particularly among the youth, who feel ignored and disillusioned.<\/p>\n

The meeting highlighted several major demands of the community, including reconstitution of the General Category Commission, implementation of reservation on an economic basis, exclusion of economically well-off creamy layer families from the SC\/ST category, stopping indiscriminate allocation of funds under the SC\/ST Atrocities Act, discontinuation of heavy incentive grants for inter-caste marriages involving SC\/ST categories, and ending caste-based discrimination in school uniforms and scholarships.<\/p>\n

Strong objection was also raised to the recent notification issued by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission fixing unequal fees for the Eligibility Test\u2014Rs. 1,150 for general category candidates, Rs. 600 for OBCs and Rs. 325 for SC\/ST candidates. The gathering urged the Chief Minister to intervene and immediately withdraw the \u201cdiscriminatory\u201d notification and ensure uniform fees for all candidates.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the Ner Chowk unit of Rajput Sabha was formally constituted. By unanimous consent, Tej Singh Thakur was elected President, Nilesh Kumar Thakur as General Secretary and Dharam Singh Parmar as Treasurer. They were authorized to constitute the remaining executive body.<\/p>\n

Apart from the main speakers, prominent members including Buddhi Singh Sen, Dhyan Singh Guleria, K.S. Minhas, Pradeep Guleria, Hardev Singh Thakur, Gangveer Singh, Prem Lal Verma, Rajendra Sen, Karam Singh Thakur, Vivek Thakur, Dile Ram, Ravi Kant Thakur, Tambar Singh, Narendra Thakur, Sunil Kumar Chandel and other active members were present.<\/p>\n
