Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh has expressed strong agreement with the recent address of the Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri in Mandi district, voicing serious concern over the conduct of certain senior IAS and IPS officers from outside Himachal Pradesh. The Minister stated that some officers, particularly from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, have shown disregard for the cultural ethos and interests of Himachal, thereby undermining the spirit of \u201cHimachaliyat.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a firm statement, Vikramaditya Singh said that while officers from other states are respected and welcomed in Himachal Pradesh, it is unfortunate that a few among them have failed to develop a genuine connection with the state and its people. He cautioned that such attitudes, if not addressed in time, could prove detrimental to the long-term interests of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe concern is not about officers belonging to other states, but about those who forget that they are here to serve the people, not to rule over them,\u201d the PWD Minister said. He emphasized that administrative officers must work in harmony with local sentiments, traditions, and priorities, rather than imposing an alien approach to governance.<\/p>\n

Vikramaditya Singh stressed that officers posted in Himachal Pradesh should learn from Himachali officers, who understand the geographical challenges, social fabric, and aspirations of the local population. He made it clear that any compromise with the interests of Himachal Pradesh would not be tolerated under any circumstances.<\/p>\n

The Minister further stated that when officers are posted in the state, their foremost duty is to serve the people of Himachal with dedication and sensitivity. \u201cAs long as you are in Himachal, serve the people of Himachal. Do not make the mistake of behaving like a ruler,\u201d he asserted, sending a strong message to the bureaucracy.<\/p>\n

Supporting the Deputy Chief Minister\u2019s stance, Vikramaditya Singh called for timely and decisive measures to deal with officers who disregard the state\u2019s interests and cultural identity. He underlined that preserving Himachaliyat is essential for balanced development and maintaining public trust in the administration.<\/p>\n

The statement has sparked discussions in political and administrative circles, highlighting the growing demand for governance rooted in local understanding and respect.
