A meeting of the Electricity Board Pensioners\u2019 Forum, Sundernagar Unit, was held at the Suket Cinema premises at Sundernagar in Mandi district today under the chairmanship of Unit President Er. K.S. Jamwal. The meeting witnessed active participation from a large number of pensioners and focused primarily on long-pending financial issues concerning retired employees of the Electricity Board.<\/p>\n

At the outset, General Secretary Sohan Singh Chauhan welcomed all the members present and extended warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of the New Year and the festival of Lohri. He expressed gratitude to the members for their continued unity and support.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, serious concern was expressed over the failure of the State Government and the Electricity Board management to release the pending arrears of pensioners, despite a decision to disburse these arrears in a phased manner. The members unanimously urged the management to resolve the issue at the earliest and ensure timely payment.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, Unit President K.S. Jamwal, General Secretary Sohan Singh Chauhan, and State Deputy General Secretary Jagmel Thakur stated that even though the government has shown the Electricity Board to be in a profit-making position this year, retired employees are still being denied their legitimate dues. These include leave encashment, gratuity, arrears of revised pay scales effective from 2016, arrears of notional pay fixation, dearness allowance (DA), and pending DA installments along with their arrears.<\/p>\n

The speakers highlighted that due to this prolonged delay, several pensioners have passed away without receiving their rightful dues, leaving their dependent family members to face severe financial hardship. The forum strongly condemned this situation and emphasized that such neglect towards retired employees is unjust and insensitive.<\/p>\n

The meeting unanimously appealed to the Electricity Board management to release the pending arrears in a lump sum, especially in cases where pensioners have passed away, so that their bereaved families can get timely financial relief during difficult times.<\/p>\n

Several senior and retired officers, including retired Chief Engineer N.P. Sharma, Bharat Lal Sharma, N.D. Walia, C.L. Gupta, U.K. Rana, P.C. Katoch, Kashmir Singh Thakur, Vimal Sharma, Naresh Chauhan, Tilak Raj Gautam, Gauri Ram Thakur, Bhup Singh Rana, Neeraj Walia, Paras Ram, Ganga Ram Thakur, Bhagat Ram, Dharam Prakash, Hamendra Sharma, Laxmi Dass, Inder Singh Thakur, Rajinder Pal, Arjun Singh Chauhan, Chait Ram Sharma, Brij Lal, Govardhan Singh Verma, Lal Singh Thakur, Hem Prabh, Bali Ram, Chet Ram, Shyam Lal, Prem Singh, Lekh Ram, Sansar Chand, Jai Singh, Biri Singh, Narpat Ram, Karam Singh, Ram Dass, and Rikhi Ram were specially present on the occasion.<\/p>\n
