Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu yesterday directed the Agriculture Department to link the detailed data of farmers practicing natural farming with the Him Parivar Portal by January 20, 2026<\/strong>, enabling preparation and mapping of a block-level database of such farmers. He was presiding over a meeting of the Agriculture Department here today.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister said that youth would be encouraged to adopt natural farming<\/strong> to strengthen the rural economy. He stated that promoting natural farming across the state would boost farmers\u2019 income and contribute to overall economic growth. Emphasizing the government\u2019s commitment, he said that the state was working to bring revolutionary changes in the natural farming-based system<\/strong>. He added that he would interact with farmers associated with natural farming at a conference to be held later this month in Hamirpur<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister reviewed various issues related to farmers producing wheat, maize and raw turmeric through natural farming<\/strong>. He said that wheat flour produced through natural farming was being marketed under the brand \u2018Him Chakki Atta\u2019<\/strong>, maize flour as \u2018Him Bhog Makki Atta\u2019<\/strong>, and raw turmeric as \u2018Him Haldi\u2019<\/strong>. He directed that the expiry date and nutritional content<\/strong> must be clearly displayed on flour packets and instructed the formation of a special unit to assess nutritional content<\/strong> of these products.<\/p>\n

Highlighting procurement achievements, the Chief Minister said that 606.8 metric tonnes of naturally grown maize<\/strong> had been procured and Rs. 2.31 crore<\/strong> transferred directly to farmers\u2019 bank accounts. Similarly, 2,123 quintals of naturally grown wheat<\/strong> had been procured at the Minimum Support Price, with payments made to farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He said encouraging results were being witnessed after fixing a support price of Rs. 90 per kg for naturally grown raw turmeric<\/strong>. The procurement of around 2,422 quintals of turmeric from 1,629 farmers<\/strong> was estimated this year. He also informed that the Agriculture Department was producing various crops using natural farming methods on its 25 farms across the state<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to ensure better marketing of natural farming products<\/strong> so that farmers could get fair returns.<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister Prof. Chander Kumar<\/strong> also gave valuable suggestions during the meeting.<\/p>\n

Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh<\/strong>, Advocate General Anup Rattan<\/strong>, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar<\/strong>, Secretaries C.
