Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed newly recruited government employees during the distribution of appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela, calling the moment an \u201cinvitation for nation building\u201d and a step towards accelerating the journey of a Developed India<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Greeting the youth at the start of 2026, the Prime Minister said the new year, coupled with the spirit of Vasant Panchami, marked a new spring in their lives. He linked the occasion with important national milestones, noting that the period coincided with Republic celebrations, Parakram Diwas, National Voters\u2019 Day, and the anniversary of the adoption of Jana Gana Mana<\/em> as the National Anthem and Vande Mataram<\/em> as the National Song. On this significant day, more than 61,000 young people received appointment letters, he said.<\/p>\n

Addressing the recruits, PM Modi said government service is not merely a job but a commitment to nation building. He noted that the newly appointed youth would contribute across critical sectors including national security, education, healthcare, financial services, energy security, and public sector enterprises. Congratulating them, he said their role would be vital in building a developed India.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said connecting youth with skills and employment opportunities has been a top priority of the government. To ensure transparency and speed in government recruitment, the Rozgar Mela was launched and has now evolved into a nationwide initiative. He said lakhs of youth have already received appointment letters through this mission, and the current Rozgar Mela is being held at more than 40 locations across the country.<\/p>\n

Highlighting India\u2019s demographic advantage, PM Modi said India is among the youngest nations in the world and the government is working to create opportunities for its youth both domestically and globally. He pointed out that trade and mobility agreements with several countries are opening new avenues for Indian youth.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also underlined the impact of large-scale investment in modern infrastructure, which has boosted employment in construction and allied sectors. He said India\u2019s start-up ecosystem is expanding rapidly, with around two lakh registered start-ups providing employment to over 21 lakh youth. Digital India, he added, has given rise to a new economy, with sectors like animation, digital media, and the creator economy offering fresh opportunities to young professionals.<\/p>\n

Referring to growing global confidence in India, PM Modi said India is the only major economy to have doubled its GDP in a decade. With over 100 countries investing in India through foreign direct investment, and FDI inflows rising more than two-and-a-half times compared to the pre-2014 period, employment opportunities for youth have expanded significantly.<\/p>\n

He said India is emerging as a major manufacturing hub, with sharp growth in electronics, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, defence, and automobiles. Electronics manufacturing has increased six-fold since 2014 and has become an industry worth over Rs. 11 lakh crore, while electronics exports have crossed Rs. 4 lakh crore. The auto sector, he said, is also witnessing rapid growth, with two-wheeler sales crossing two crore units in 2025, reflecting increased purchasing power and economic confidence.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister highlighted women\u2019s growing participation in the workforce, noting that over 8,000 women received appointment letters at the event. He said women\u2019s workforce participation has nearly doubled in the past 11 years, with schemes like Mudra and Start-up India boosting self-employment. Women, he added, are playing leadership roles in start-ups, MSMEs, cooperatives, and self-help groups.<\/p>\n

Speaking on reforms, PM Modi said the country is on a \u201cReform Express\u201d aimed at improving Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business. He said next-generation GST reforms and new labour codes have strengthened social security and benefitted workers, employees, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister urged the new recruits to reflect on their past experiences with government systems and ensure that citizens do not face the same difficulties during their tenure. He emphasized that reforms are not limited to policy-making but also depend on the attitude and intent of government employees at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

He also stressed the importance of continuous learning in a fast-changing technological era and encouraged the use of platforms like iGOT Karmayogi, noting that around 1.5 crore government employees are already using the platform for skill upgradation.<\/p>\n

Concluding his address, PM Modi reminded the recruits that all public servants, from the Prime Minister to the lowest functionary, are bound by one mantra \u2014 \u201cNagrik Devo Bhava\u201d<\/em> (The Citizen is God). He expressed confidence that the youth would play a decisive role in building a developed India by 2047 and extended his best wishes to them for the new chapter in their lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
