A long-cherished dream of providing a dedicated and peaceful learning space for students and youth has turned into reality with the inauguration of a modern library at Bijan of Khaliyar Ward of the Municipal Corporation Mandi. The 50-seat library was formally inaugurated few days ago, by Mandi MC Mayor Virender Bhatt Sharma, marking an important step towards strengthening educational infrastructure in the city.<\/p>\n

Municipal Commissioner Rohit Rathour, Additional Commissioner Vijay Kumar, and other councillors were present on the occasion, reflecting the civic administration\u2019s collective commitment to promoting education and public welfare.<\/p>\n

According to ward councillor Alaknanda Handa, the library, established in the merged area of the erstwhile Bijni Panchayat, has been equipped with essential facilities to support focused learning, including Wi-Fi connectivity, proper sanitation facilities, and a calm, study-friendly environment.<\/p>\n

The initiative is being widely welcomed by residents, especially students and young learners, who now have access to a well-equipped public space for reading and self-study. Civic officials expressed hope that the library would emerge as a milestone for Mandi city by encouraging academic growth and a culture of reading among children and youth.<\/p>\n

“Adding to the educational vision, the Municipal Corporation Mandi is planning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Mandi. Under this proposed collaboration, students will benefit from special lectures by IIT experts and educational visits to the IIT Mandi campus, further enhancing exposure to higher education and innovation” said ward councillor Alaknanda Handa.<\/p>\n

On the same day, a councillor\u2019s office was also inaugurated in\u00a0 Khaliyar ward. The office is expected to serve as a vital centre for addressing public grievances, strengthening communication between residents and the local administration, and accelerating development works in the ward.<\/p>\n

Ward Councillor Alaknanda Handa formally assumed charge at the new office and described the inauguration of the library as a moment of pride and fulfillment. She stated that the facility would serve children, youth, and readers from the entire area by offering a dignified and resourceful space for learning.<\/p>\n

Councillor Handa also expressed heartfelt gratitude to former Municipal Commissioner H.S. Rana, a native of Chamba district, acknowledging his crucial role in allocating funds and supporting the project from its inception. She noted that his assurance and positive approach played a key role in making the library in the merged Bijni Panchayat area a reality.<\/p>\n
