The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convened a state-level meeting at the party\u2019s district office in Sundernagar, Mandi, where senior leaders underscored the governance achievements of the Central government while launching a strong critique of the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by BJP Member of Parliament and former Madhya Pradesh BJP president Vishnu Dutt Sharma as the chief guest. It was presided over by state BJP president Rajeev Bindal. Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Organisation General Secretary Siddharthan, and state general secretaries Sanjeev Katwal and Payal Vaidya were also present.<\/p>\n

Centre\u2019s Governance Model Highlighted<\/h3>\n

Addressing party workers, Sharma credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ushering in transparency and accountability in governance. He stated that systemic leakages in welfare schemes have been eliminated through direct benefit transfers (DBT), ensuring that government assistance reaches beneficiaries directly in their bank accounts.<\/p>\n

Calling it a transformative shift in governance, Sharma said the BJP believes in delivering tangible welfare outcomes rather than relying on slogans. He asserted that several Antyodaya-driven initiatives have lifted millions above the poverty line and strengthened the last-mile delivery of services.<\/p>\n

Emphasising the party\u2019s ideological roots, Sharma said the BJP draws inspiration from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Deendayal Upadhyaya, whose principles of sacrifice, national unity, and service continue to guide the organisation. Referring to the abrogation of Article 370, he described it as a historic move that reinforced national integration and accused the Congress of spreading misinformation to undermine the BJP\u2019s developmental record.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure Push in Himachal<\/h3>\n

Highlighting infrastructure development, Sharma claimed that between 2014 and 2025, nearly 1,364 kilometres of national highways were constructed or upgraded in Himachal Pradesh under Central schemes. He also cited the inauguration of the 9.02-kilometre-long Atal Tunnel in 2020 as a landmark achievement. The tunnel, he said, has ensured year-round connectivity to Lahaul-Spiti, significantly boosting tourism and economic activities in the region.<\/p>\n

BJP\u2019s Ideological Commitment<\/h3>\n

In his address, Rajeev Bindal described the BJP as a cadre-based organisation guided by the philosophy of Integral Humanism propounded by Deendayal Upadhyaya. He outlined five core commitments of the party\u2014nationalism and national unity, democracy, cultural values, Antyodaya, and clean public life\u2014stating that these principles have helped the BJP emerge as the world\u2019s largest political party.<\/p>\n

Attack on State Congress Government<\/h3>\n

Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur mounted a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of financial mismanagement and failing to fulfil its electoral promises. He alleged that the Congress, which came to power on the promise of \u201c10 guarantees,\u201d is now backtracking on commitments including 300 units of free electricity, enhanced social security pensions, and large-scale employment generation.<\/p>\n

Thakur further claimed that proposed cuts in subsidies and pensions would adversely affect the poor and elderly. He also accused the state government of not honouring commitments related to dearness allowance, arrears, and pension reforms, asserting that the BJP would continue to raise these issues before the public.<\/p>\n

Chief Spokesperson of party and BJP MLA from Sundernagar Rakesh Jamwal welcomed the BJP leaders.<\/p>\n
