In connection with the International Maha Shivratri Festival, the Saras Mela was inaugurated at Indira Market in Mandi by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Monday. Emphasizing the importance of such initiatives, he stated that the Saras Mela serves as a powerful platform for promoting rural livelihoods, women empowerment, local handicrafts, and traditional products.<\/p>\n

After inaugurating the fair, the Deputy Chief Minister visited various stalls set up by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and interacted with participants. He appreciated the efforts of women entrepreneurs and rural artisans, noting that Saras Mela provides them direct access to markets while strengthening the rural economy. He urged residents and visitors to attend the fair in large numbers and support local products, thereby contributing to sustainable rural development.<\/p>\n

The Mandi Saras Mela is being organized from February 16 to 25. This year, participants from 14 states, including Himachal Pradesh, are showcasing their products at the event. SHGs from all 12 districts of the state, as well as from all 14 development blocks of Mandi district, are actively taking part in the fair.<\/p>\n

A total of 96 stalls have been set up at the venue. Among them, 15 stalls are dedicated to traditional local cuisines, offering visitors a taste of regional flavors. The remaining stalls feature a diverse range of products including handloom items, handicrafts, food-processed goods, and various rural and cottage industry products. The products displayed reflect the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of different regions.<\/p>\n

Organized with the objective of promoting local culture, traditional arts, handicrafts, and rural entrepreneurship, the Saras Mela has emerged as a major attraction for both local residents and tourists visiting Mandi during the festive season.<\/p>\n
