The Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, spoke with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, last night for wide-ranging discussions covering the war in Ukraine, the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and concerns over Iran\u2019s nuclear programme.<\/p>\n

Ukraine: Call for Just and Lasting Peace<\/h3>\n

During the call, the Prime Minister reiterated his strong condemnation of Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/strong> and what he described as \u201cbarbaric attacks on innocent civilians in Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two leaders discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. The Prime Minister underscored the United Kingdom\u2019s continued support for Ukraine\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while both leaders acknowledged the importance of sustained international coordination.<\/p>\n

Gaza and Humanitarian Access<\/h3>\n

Turning to the Middle East, the Prime Minister reflected on the current situation in Gaza and stressed the urgent need to secure further access for humanitarian aid to civilians affected by the conflict.<\/p>\n

He also expressed support for ongoing efforts to advance a US-led peace initiative, highlighting the importance of renewed diplomatic engagement to stabilise the region and prevent further escalation.<\/p>\n

Iran Nuclear Talks in Geneva<\/h3>\n

The leaders further discussed the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran in Geneva<\/strong> regarding Iran\u2019s nuclear programme.<\/p>\n

Both agreed that Iran must never be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with allies and partners to strengthen regional security and promote stability across the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Strengthening Transatlantic Cooperation<\/h3>\n

The call reinforced the close cooperation between the UK and US governments on key international security challenges. Both leaders confirmed their shared commitment to promoting stability and peace, particularly in conflict-affected regions.<\/p>\n
