Marking a historic milestone in the legacy of Mandi town, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla<\/strong> today unveiled a commemorative emblem (\u2018Prateek-Chihn\u2019) celebrating 500 years since the establishment of the town. The emblem has been conceptualized and created by Sardar Patel University in Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, the Governor described the emblem as a powerful representation of Mandi\u2019s rich historical, cultural, and religious heritage. He highlighted the motto inscribed on the emblem \u2014 \u201cMandi: Panchshatani Varshani \u2013 Avichchhinna Parampara\u201d<\/em> \u2014 which signifies five centuries of uninterrupted tradition and enduring faith. He stated that the symbol stands as a proud reflection of Mandi\u2019s glorious 500-year journey, serving as a strong bridge connecting the past, present, and future.<\/p>\n

Symbolism Rooted in History and Culture<\/h3>\n

The commemorative design prominently features \u201cGaurav Varsh 500,\u201d signifying the town\u2019s historic milestone. It artistically portrays Mandi\u2019s identity as \u201cChhoti Kashi,\u201d renowned for its numerous ancient temples. The emblem also incorporates the grandeur of erstwhile princely palaces and the vibrant cultural tradition of the Madhav Rai Palki procession, which remains central to the town\u2019s festive spirit.<\/p>\n

The Trishul depicted in the emblem symbolizes Shiva-Shakti, while the surrounding mountains and the Vipasha (Beas) River reflect Mandi\u2019s distinct geographical setting and natural beauty.<\/p>\n

Collaborative Academic and Artistic Effort<\/h3>\n

The emblem was conceptualized by Chander Shekhar, Member of the University Executive Council and MLA from Dharampur. Guidance for its development was provided by Vice-Chancellor professor Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi. The academic framework was prepared by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Head of the Department of History, while its artistic expression was brought to life by Kumari Swastika Sharma through creative design.<\/p>\n
