The sacred town of Rewalsar in Himachal Pradesh\u2019s Mandi district witnessed the grand inauguration of the three-day State-Level Cheshchu Fair today. The event was formally inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur, who attended as the chief guest and lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the commencement of the celebrations.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, the Education Minister conveyed a profound message of peace, compassion, coexistence, and global harmony. He described the Cheshchu festival as not merely a religious celebration but a unique confluence of faith, culture, and spiritual energy that binds society together in unity and humanity.<\/p>\n

Beginning his address with traditional greetings, \u201cJule\u201d and \u201cNamaste,\u201d Thakur extended warm wishes to the devotees and participants. He highlighted that the sacred land of Rewalsar, revered as the meditation site of Guru Padmasambhava, holds immense spiritual significance and attracts devotees from across the Himalayan region and beyond.<\/p>\n

Thousands of pilgrims from Ladakh, Zanskar, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Mandi, and other regions participated in the celebrations, reflecting the deep-rooted Himalayan Buddhist traditions and the region\u2019s shared cultural heritage. The Minister noted that the sight of devotees performing the sacred \u201cKora\u201d (circumambulation) around the holy lake, chanting prayers with rosary beads and lighting lamps, fills the heart with peace and positive energy.<\/p>\n

He urged everyone present to take a pledge on this sacred land to uphold the values of goodwill, compassion, and humanity in their daily lives. The true essence of the Cheshchu festival, he said, lies in the purification of the mind, unity of society, and prayers for world peace. He also expressed hope that the blessings of Guru Padmasambhava remain with all.<\/p>\n

Former Minister Prakash Chaudhary and Chairman of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Sanjeev Guleria, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the cultural and developmental significance of the Rewalsar region.<\/p>\n

Chairperson of the Fair Organizing Committee and SDM Balh, Smritika Negi, welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries by presenting them with traditional Himachali caps, shawls, and mementos. In her welcome address, she expressed gratitude to the district administration and local residents for their support in organizing the fair successfully.<\/p>\n

During the event, the Education Minister also cut a cake with specially-abled children from the Day Care Centre, Bhangrotu, adding a heartfelt touch to the celebrations.<\/p>\n

Among those present were former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal Thakur, former MLA from Bilaspur Sadar constituency Tilak Raj Sharma, District Congress Committee President Champa Thakur, senior officials from various departments, prominent citizens, and a large number of local residents and Buddhist devotees.<\/p>\n

The Cheshchu Fair, rooted in centuries-old Buddhist traditions, continues to serve as a vibrant symbol of spiritual devotion, communal harmony, and the rich cultural tapestry of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
