Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday extended a strong invitation to industry leaders to invest in key sectors such as tourism, food processing and information technology, while presiding over the annual conference of the Confederation of Indian Industry in Shimla.<\/p>\n

Addressing the conference themed \u201cBuilding a Future-Ready Himachal Pradesh for a Better Tomorrow: Harnessing Local Strengths for Global Competitiveness,\u201d the Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is actively promoting green and sustainable industries in line with Himachal Pradesh\u2019s unique ecological profile. He assured investors of full government support, stating that necessary facilities and a conducive environment would be provided to encourage industrial growth.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the government\u2019s focus on tourism, Sukhu announced plans to invest Rs. 3,000 crore in the sector in the coming years. He said that heliports are being developed at district headquarters and major tourist destinations, and heli-taxi services have already been launched, with further expansion in the pipeline. He also noted that the expansion of the Kangra Airport is underway to improve connectivity.<\/p>\n

Sending a clear message to the business community, Sukhu said that harassment of industrialists would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He encouraged investors to directly bring their grievances to his attention and stressed the need to strengthen the single-window clearance system to ensure ease of doing business.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister also highlighted the development of a Bulk Drug Park at Haroli in Una district, where incentives are being offered to attract investment. He added that most industries in the state are located near its borders and that the government is focusing on strengthening infrastructure in these regions.<\/p>\n

He further announced plans to develop underground utility ducts in Baddi on the lines of Shimla and said efforts are underway to resolve power load issues in industrial areas. The state government, he added, is bearing 50 percent of the cost along with land acquisition expenses to extend railway connectivity to Baddi, which will benefit industries linked to Bhakra Beas Management Board.<\/p>\n

Sukhu also raised concerns about financial constraints, stating that Himachal Pradesh\u2014often referred to as the \u201clungs of North India\u201d and a \u201cwater bowl\u201d\u2014has been deprived of its rightful financial share. He pointed out that Revenue Deficit Grants under Article 275(1) have been discontinued and said the state government is actively pursuing their restoration.<\/p>\n

Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan lauded the Chief Minister\u2019s focus on resource mobilization and highlighted the challenges faced by the state, including natural disasters and a political crisis in 2024. He stated that despite these challenges, the government supported affected families using its own resources. However, he added that Rs. 1,500 crore in disaster relief announced by the Centre is still awaited.<\/p>\n

Chauhan emphasized that Himachal Pradesh offers a favorable industrial climate with adequate power supply and strong law and order. He also promoted the \u201cbuy local\u201d approach, stating that supporting locally made products would strengthen the economy, sustain livelihoods and move the state towards self-reliance.<\/p>\n

Several dignitaries, including CII Northern Region Chairperson Anjali Singh, Deepan Garg, Puneet Kaura, Sanjay Suri, and Director Industries Dr. Yunus, were present at the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
