The Amritsar police on Saturday registered a case against former Punjab transport minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Bhullar, and his personal assistant Dilbagh Singh following the death of a senior government official, Gagandeep Randhawa.<\/p>\n

Randhawa, who served as a district manager with the Punjab Warehousing Corporation, died on Saturday in what police are investigating as a case of suicide. The FIR has been lodged under Sections 108 (abetment to suicide), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).<\/p>\n

Complaint by Family<\/h3>\n

According to the complaint filed by Randhawa\u2019s wife, Upinder Kaur, the accused had been allegedly pressuring her husband for months regarding the allotment of warehouse tenders. She alleged that he was repeatedly asked to favour certain interests in the tender process.<\/p>\n

The complaint further states that after Randhawa refused to comply, he was allegedly subjected to threats, intimidation, and harassment. Kaur also alleged that her husband was physically assaulted and humiliated.<\/p>\n

She claimed that the accused threatened harm to Randhawa and his family and, at one point, allegedly forced him to record a video statement under duress.<\/p>\n

Circumstances of Death<\/h3>\n

Family members stated that Randhawa had been under significant stress in recent months. On Saturday morning, he allegedly consumed poison. A short video recorded by him before his death later surfaced on social media and is being examined as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n

Police officials said the allegations mentioned in the complaint are being verified and that further action will be taken based on the findings.<\/p>\n

Political Reactions<\/h3>\n

The incident has led to strong political reactions across Punjab. Leaders from various opposition parties visited the bereaved family at their residence in Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar.<\/p>\n

Among those who met the family were Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar, and Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa.<\/p>\n

Opposition parties have also announced plans to stage a protest outside the residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh.<\/p>\n

Investigation Ongoing<\/h3>\n

Police have initiated an investigation into the case and are examining all available evidence, including the video and statements from the family. Officials have stated that conclusions will be drawn after a thorough probe.<\/p>\n
