A high-level parliamentary delegation from the Russian Federation, led by H.E. Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, met with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The meeting underscored the growing and dynamic nature of the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

During the meeting, President Murmu welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of regular exchanges between public representatives in strengthening bilateral cooperation. She noted that such engagements are crucial in keeping the partnership contemporary and relevant in a rapidly changing global landscape.

The President highlighted the positive outcomes of ongoing dialogue at various levels, particularly in enhancing the cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments. She also acknowledged the regular high-level interactions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin, which have further solidified ties between the two nations. President Murmu specifically pointed to the role of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission in fostering collaboration between the legislative bodies of India and Russia.

In her remarks, the President emphasized the need to enhance interaction among women and youth parliamentarians from both countries, recognizing their potential in furthering India-Russia relations.

The President also shared her experience of inaugurating the New Delhi World Book Fair, where Russia is the Focus Country this year. She expressed hope that the event would offer Indian readers an insightful glimpse into Russia’s rich literary heritage. President Murmu urged for greater cultural and artistic collaborations between the two nations to further deepen the people-to-people ties.

The meeting today reaffirmed the strong foundations of the India-Russia partnership, with both sides committed to further strengthening their cooperation in various sectors including politics, culture, and youth exchange.
