Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has extended heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the redevelopment of the Baijnath-Paprola Railway Station in Kangra district under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The Governor hailed the initiative as a significant step towards modernizing the state’s railway infrastructure and boosting tourism-related employment.

Participating virtually from Karsog in Mandi district, Governor Shukla joined the national ceremony where the Prime Minister inaugurated 103 redeveloped railway stations across the country in a virtual address from Bikaner, Rajasthan.

Calling the scheme transformative, Governor Shukla praised the Central Government’s focus on enhancing connectivity and passenger amenities. “This development is not just an infrastructure project—it’s a major leap for the tourism sector in Himachal Pradesh. Improved facilities and connectivity will bring more visitors to our spiritual and natural heritage sites, leading to increased livelihood opportunities,” he stated.

Highlighting the scale of investment in the state’s railway network, the Governor informed that projects worth Rs 17,714 crore are currently underway in Himachal. Additionally, the state received a record allocation of Rs 2,716 crore for railway development in the Union Budget for 2025–26. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, four major railway stations in Himachal are being upgraded with modern, world-class amenities.

The Governor also emphasized that these projects reflect the Centre’s unwavering commitment to equitable infrastructure growth, even in hilly and remote regions like Himachal Pradesh.

In a spiritual conclusion to his three-day tour of Mandi district, Governor Shukla, accompanied by Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, visited the revered Shikari Mata Temple near Janjehli in the Seraj Assembly constituency. The couple trekked on foot from the helipad to the hilltop temple, where they offered prayers for the state’s prosperity and well-being.

It was the Governor’s first visit to the temple, and both he and the Lady Governor were honoured by the temple committee for their presence. The visit was attended by several dignitaries, including Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur, Dr. Sadhna Thakur, Governor’s Secretary C.P. Verma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Rathour, Additional Superintendent of Police Sagar Chander, and other senior officials.

The Governor’s visit, blending infrastructural milestones with spiritual engagements, highlighted the state’s development journey rooted in both tradition and progress.
