SC to Form Bench to Hear Justice Yashwant Varma’s Plea in Cash Discovery Controversy.
New Delhi:
The Supreme Court on Wednesday announced that it would constitute a special bench to hear a petition filed by Allahabad High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma, who is challenging the findings of an in-house inquiry panel that held him guilty of misconduct in the ongoing cash discovery row.
Justice Varma has also sought to quash the recommendation made on May 8 by then Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, who urged Parliament to initiate impeachment proceedings against him.
The matter was mentioned for urgent listing before a bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justices K Vinod Chandran and Joymalya Bagchi. The top court assured that a bench would be formed to hear the matter in due course.
