New Delhi:

In a significant move to bolster strategic and defence cooperation, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh held a bilateral meeting with Major General (Res) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defence, in New Delhi today. The high-level dialogue underscored the mutual commitment of India and Israel to deepen long-term defence collaboration and jointly address regional and global security challenges.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to work toward developing a robust institutional framework to further enhance the defence relationship between the two countries. This includes exploring avenues for joint research, defence manufacturing, technology sharing, and training exchanges.

The Israeli Defence DG, Major General Amir Baram, strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, and expressed unwavering support for India’s fight against terrorism. In a reciprocal gesture, Defence Secretary Singh reiterated India’s firm zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and extended condolences for the October 07, 2023, terrorist attacks in Israel. He also called for the immediate release of hostages still held in connection with those attacks.

The meeting also served as a review platform for the progress made in defence collaboration since the last Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting held in July 2024. The discussions covered a broad spectrum of ongoing and future projects aimed at enhancing interoperability and shared capabilities between the Indian Armed Forces and the Israeli Defence Forces.

This visit by Major General Baram marks a pivotal moment in the ever-strengthening India-Israel strategic partnership. It reaffirms both nations’ shared commitment to security cooperation and resilience in the face of common threats. The meeting is expected to pave the way for a new chapter of sustained and structured defence engagement between the two democracies.
