CM Sukhu Inaugurates Rs. 30-Crore Robotic Surgery Facility at RPGMC Tanda; Announces Expansion of B.Sc. Nursing Seats.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu virtually inaugurated a state-of-the-art robotic surgery facility at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda, on Friday. The facility, established at a cost of Rs. 30 crore, marks a significant leap forward in Himachal Pradesh’s healthcare infrastructure.

Originally scheduled to inaugurate the facility in person, the Chief Minister addressed the gathering virtually from Chandigarh, as inclement weather prevented his helicopter from landing in Tanda.
Addressing the event, CM Sukhu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering advanced and specialized healthcare services closer to people’s homes through cutting-edge technology. He highlighted that this is the second robotic surgery unit in the state, following the earlier installation at the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialty in Chamiyana (Shimla).
“The government has prioritized the health and education sectors, and is committed to strengthening them with modern technologies. There will be no shortage of funds for improving healthcare facilities,” the Chief Minister stated.
Key Announcements:
Increase in B.Sc. Nursing seats from 30 to 60 at Tanda Medical College.
Installation of PET Scan Machine at RPGMC Tanda, eliminating the need for patients to travel outside the state.
Strengthening of Emergency Departments in all medical colleges across Himachal Pradesh.
Robotic surgery units to be introduced in a phased manner at government medical colleges in Hamirpur, Chamba, Nerchowk, and Nahan.
Creation of 50 new posts for Operation Theatre Radiographers.
Recruitment of 150–200 paramedical staff for the newly equipped medical colleges.
Performance-based incentives for doctors excelling in their fields.

At RPGMC Tanda, the ceremony was attended by Health Minister Col. (Dr.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma, Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board Bhawani Singh Pathania, Vice Chairman of HP Tourism Development Board R.S. Bali, MLAs Sanjay Rattan, Kishori Lal, and Ashish Butail, Vice Chairman of HRTC Ajay Verma, former MLAs Ajay Mahajan and Surender Kaku, and Principal of Tanda Medical College Dr. Milap Sharma.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania was present with the Chief Minister at the virtual inauguration from Chandigarh.
