Israel Says Iran Launched Long-Range Missile, Warns of Expanding Global Threat.
Jerusalem:
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced that Iran has launched a long-range missile capable of reaching distances of approximately 4,000 kilometers, marking what it described as a significant escalation in regional military capabilities.
According to the IDF statement, this is the first time such a missile has been used since the start of what Israel refers to as “Operation Roaring Lion.” The military said the development confirms longstanding concerns about Iran’s expanding missile program and its potential implications beyond the Middle East.
The IDF also referenced intelligence disclosed during “Operation Rising Lion” in June 2025, when it claimed that Iran was actively pursuing missile systems with ranges of up to 4,000 kilometers. At the time, Iranian officials denied these allegations. Israel now asserts that the latest launch demonstrates that such capabilities are no longer theoretical.
Israeli defense officials warned that missiles with this range could put major cities across multiple continents within reach, including London, Paris, and Berlin. The IDF described this as a “global threat,” emphasizing that the implications extend far beyond Israel and its immediate neighbors.
In its statement, the Israeli military further accused the Iranian government of carrying out attacks against at least 12 countries in the region, adding that the combination of such actions and long-range missile development represents a widening security concern for Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Iran has not yet issued an official response to the latest claims. The situation adds to already heightened tensions between the two countries and is likely to draw increased international attention amid concerns over regional stability and long-range weapons proliferation.
Analysts note that if confirmed, the deployment of such long-range missile systems could significantly alter strategic calculations, raising alarm among nations potentially within range and prompting calls for renewed diplomatic and security measures.
