Doron Spielman Appointed International Spokesperson for Israel’s National Public Diplomacy Directorate.
Public diplomacy expert and former IDF spokesperson to strengthen Israel’s global communications strategy.
Jerusalem:
Israel has appointed Doron Spielman as the International Spokesperson for the National Public Diplomacy Directorate in the Prime Minister’s Office, following the unanimous approval of his candidacy by the selection committee.
The announcement was made by National Public Diplomacy Directorate Head Tzipi Hotovely, who said Spielman’s appointment would significantly strengthen Israel’s international public diplomacy efforts at a time of heightened global attention.
Spielman brings more than two decades of experience in international communications, strategic affairs and national security. A reserve officer with the rank of Major in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), he previously served as a spokesperson to foreign media in the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. In that role, he represented Israel in hundreds of interviews and media reports across leading international news organisations, particularly following the October 7 attack.
Widely recognised for his expertise in strategic communications, Spielman has focused on developing messaging and narratives aimed at strengthening Israel’s international standing and presenting the historical and national connection of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.
In recent years, he served as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of a strategic communications and media consulting firm while also working as a senior fellow at the Israeli Center for Freedom. Earlier, he held the position of Vice President of the City of David Foundation, where he led the organisation’s public relations, international partnerships and global operations.
Spielman is also the author of the New York Times bestselling book When the Stones Speak, which explores the archaeological and historical foundations of the Jewish people’s connection to Jerusalem and the Land of Israel.
Academically, he holds a degree in International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of the Churchill Program for Political and Security Strategy.
Welcoming the appointment, Tzipi Hotovely said Spielman’s extensive international experience and understanding of the public diplomacy challenges facing Israel made him well suited for the role.
“I welcome Doron’s joining the National Public Diplomacy Directorate. Doron brings with him rich experience in the international arena, a deep understanding of the public diplomacy challenges facing the State of Israel, and a proven ability to present the Israeli narrative out of a deep connection to the roots of our identity. His addition to the directorate will serve as a significant reinforcement for Israeli public diplomacy,” Hotovely said.
Spielman is expected to lead the Directorate’s international communication efforts, engaging with global media and audiences while helping shape Israel’s public diplomacy strategy amid evolving geopolitical and security challenges.
