Jerusalem:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed deep sorrow over the reported death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, describing him as one of Israel’s closest allies and a lifelong champion of the U.S.-Israel relationship.

In a heartfelt statement, Netanyahu said that he and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, join the American people in mourning the loss of the veteran senator, whom he referred to as both a “dear friend” and a “great patriot.”

“Sara and I grieve with the American people over the loss of our dear friend, Senator Lindsey Graham,” Netanyahu said.

Recalling their recent meeting, the Israeli prime minister highlighted the close personal bond they shared and Graham’s unwavering support for Israel.

“In our recent meeting, I said, ‘Lindsey is a great friend of Israel and a cherished friend of mine. We have no better friend than Lindsey,'” Netanyahu stated.

According to Netanyahu, Graham firmly believed that the security interests of Israel and the United States were closely linked. He praised the senator’s decades of public service, saying Graham devoted his life to defending America, strengthening the strategic alliance between Washington and Jerusalem, and standing up for what he described as the free world.

Netanyahu said the senator’s passing represents a profound loss for both nations.

“Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. America has lost a great patriot. I have lost a beloved friend,” he said.

Extending his condolences, Netanyahu offered sympathies to Graham’s family and to the American people during what he called a difficult time. He also expressed hope that the senator’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations.

“Our hearts are with Lindsey’s family and with the American people at this difficult time. May his values and initiatives continue to guide us toward victory and peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing,” Netanyahu concluded.

Senator Lindsey Graham was widely recognized as one of the strongest supporters of Israel in the U.S. Congress, consistently advocating for close U.S.-Israel ties and cooperation on regional security and defense issues throughout his political career.
