BJP MLA Prakash Rana Slams Himachal Govt Over Fiscal Mismanagement, Calls for Accountability.

Shimla:

Prakash Rana, BJP legislator from Jogindernagar in Mandi district yesterday strongly criticized the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government government during the ongoing Assembly session, alleging financial mismanagement and anti-people decisions.

The MLA Rana said he had been warning the government for the past three years about “wasteful expenditure,” but the administration continued unchecked, pushing the state into economic distress. He accused the government of imposing “dictatorial decisions” on the public in a democratic setup, citing salary cuts of employees and officials while, he claimed, government expenditure remains unchecked.

Targeting Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the BJP leader alleged that significant spending is being incurred on official events, even as the common people bear increasing financial burdens.

He urged the government to immediately reconsider its decisions, warning of serious consequences for the state if corrective measures are not taken. The MLA also demanded stricter laws against “false promises,” suggesting that leaders who fail to fulfill their announcements should be barred from contesting elections.

Raising concerns over rising debt, he questioned the government’s fiscal responsibility, stating that a Chief Minister, as the head of the state, must not leave it burdened with liabilities. He concluded by calling for systemic change to reduce the financial strain on citizens.
