Shimla:
Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with devotion, joy and great enthusiasm at DAV Public School BSL Pandoh in Mandi district, where students and teachers came together to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna through a series of cultural and devotional programmes.
The celebrations featured various activities based on the life, childhood stories and teachings of Lord Krishna. Students participated enthusiastically in the programme, dressed in colourful and traditional attire representing Radha and Krishna. Their captivating performances added vibrancy to the celebrations and received appreciation from everyone present.
A major highlight of the event was the traditional Matki Phod ceremony, which recreated one of the most popular childhood pastimes associated with Lord Krishna. The activity generated excitement among the students and created an atmosphere of celebration across the school campus.

Students also presented glimpses of Krishna’s childhood pastimes through their performances, bringing alive stories and values associated with his life. Another devotional moment came when the students lovingly placed an idol of Lord Krishna in a beautifully decorated swing, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.
The celebrations not only provided students with an opportunity to participate in cultural activities but also helped them understand the significance of Janmashtami and the values associated with Lord Krishna’s life.
Addressing the students on the occasion, school Principal Vandana Kapur encouraged them to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. She emphasised the importance of adopting values such as truth, compassion, courage, devotion and righteousness in everyday life.
The entire school campus was decorated for the occasion and remained filled with enthusiasm, happiness and devotion throughout the programme. The celebrations provided students with a meaningful blend of cultural learning, devotion and entertainment while strengthening their connection with Indian traditions and values.
