Congress nominates its spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi for Rajya Sabha from Himachal.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) has nominated its spokesperson, a Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi for Rajya Sabha from Himachal today. An official declaration was given regarding this from the AICC office Delhi.

Earlier there were speculations that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi, one of them might be nominated for Rajya Sabha from Himachal. But today with the official declaration from AICC office about nomination of Abhishek Manu Singhvi for Rajya Sabha from Himachal, these speculations were ended abruptly.

Today, Abhishek Manu Singhvi met the Chief Minister of Himachal Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at state capital Shimla, who congratulated him for his nomination from Himachal.

The seat of Rajya Sabha from Himachal is going to vacate on April 2, which is currently held by BJP National President JP Nadda, who hails from Himachal.

The selection of Abhishek Manu Singhvi is certain for Rajya Sabha from Himachal because Congress has an absolute majority in Himachal having 40 seats of the total 68 assembly seats.
