The three-day 2nd International Conference (AGRI-VET 2026), organised by Abhilashi University, Chail Chowk, Mandi, in collaboration with the Society for Advancement in Agriculture, Horticulture and Allied Sectors (SAAHAS), concluded successfully on Saturday with a renewed emphasis on collaborative research and innovation for climate-smart agriculture and veterinary health.

The international conference witnessed the participation of nearly 580 delegates representing academic institutions, research organisations and agricultural bodies from India and abroad. The event provided a common platform for young researchers, distinguished scientists, faculty members, progressive farmers and local self-help groups to exchange knowledge and explore innovative approaches to address emerging challenges in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Over three days, the conference featured keynote lectures by invited experts, technical paper presentations, poster sessions, online sessions and innovation showcases. The deliberations highlighted the role of modern technologies, scientific research and collaborative approaches in developing sustainable agricultural practices and strengthening veterinary healthcare in the face of changing climatic conditions.

During the valedictory session, outstanding research contributions were recognised through awards, mementos and certificates of commendation. The honours were presented to the authors of meritorious research papers and poster presentations by University Pro-Chancellor Dr. Lalit Abhilashi and Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.K. Chaudhary.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Lalit Abhilashi said the world was passing through a critical phase marked by accelerating climate change. Unpredictable weather patterns and climate-induced disruptions posed serious challenges to global food security, making collaboration among researchers, scientists and policymakers essential for developing climate-resilient agricultural systems.

He stressed the need to translate laboratory research into practical, field-level solutions that could benefit farmers while ensuring ecological sustainability and long-term food security. He also urged young scientists to maintain a balance between traditional farming wisdom and modern scientific techniques to develop locally relevant and sustainable agricultural practices.

In his special message, University Chancellor Dr. R.K. Abhilashi congratulated the organisers and participants on the successful completion of the conference. He emphasised the need for researchers, innovators and scientists to strengthen grassroots initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and veterinary practices amid global warming.

He further observed that international academic forums played an important role in providing early-career researchers with new perspectives, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and motivating them to develop practical solutions to pressing environmental and agricultural challenges.

The conference also underscored the importance of knowledge-sharing among academic institutions, research organisations, farmers and other stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of innovative and climate-resilient practices.

Conference Convener Prof. P.C. Sharma delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management of Abhilashi University, resource persons, delegates and SAAHAS, Kurukshetra, for their support and cooperation in organising the event.

The successful conclusion of AGRI-VET 2026 reaffirmed the importance of collaborative research, technological innovation and the integration of traditional knowledge with modern science in building a sustainable future for agriculture and veterinary health.
