Rajat Thakur Demands Public Apology from Mallikarjun Kharge over Alleged Remarks Against PM Modi’s Father.
Shimla:
BJP leader and Himachal Pradesh BJP Working Committee member Rajat Thakur has strongly condemned the alleged derogatory remarks made by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late father, demanding a public apology to the people of the country.
Thakur said political differences and criticism of government policies were part of democracy, but insulting someone’s deceased parent was against Indian cultural values, social decorum and democratic principles.
He alleged that such remarks reflected political frustration and ideological bankruptcy within the Congress leadership. He said the BJP strongly opposed personal attacks on the families of political leaders and urged Kharge to publicly apologise for his alleged statement.
Thakur further accused the Congress of targeting the Prime Minister instead of taking responsibility for its political setbacks. He appealed to Congress leaders to respect democratic institutions and constitutional values.
Expressing concern over what he described as attempts to create political instability, Thakur said India was a strong democratic nation where differences should be resolved through constitutional and democratic processes.
He added that personal attacks, abusive language and political allegations would not weaken the BJP’s commitment to national interest and public service. He reiterated that maintaining political decency and democratic propriety was the responsibility of every political party and its leadership.
