Former minister and senior Congress leader Prakash Chaudhary resigned from the posts of Congress party and its membership.
Shimla:
Former minister and senior Congress leader Prakash Chaudhary today resigned from the post of district Congress Committee Mandi and the membership of party. He announced about it from his social media account Facebook today evening.
From the Congress party sources it came into notice that Chaudhary was annoyed with the Congress regime in the state, which has sidelined him completely. His works were not being done on priority, which disappointed him.
Prakash Chaudhary had lost last assembly election in 2022 to the BJP candidate from Balh assembly constituency of Mandi district.
This political turmoil in Mandi district has put Congress party on back foot, which was bracing for the win of Lok Sabha elections in Himachal, due in the next few months. It is also a major setback for Congress MP from Mandi Pratibha Singh, who is likely to contest the Lok Sabha election from Mandi seat. She is also the Congress state president.
Chaudhary has significant influence in his home assembly constituency at Balh, which is also the part of Mandi Lok Sabha seat. His revolt against Congress will definitely put dent to the Congress candidate in the Lok Sabha election.
According to the sources in the Congress, several leaders of Congress in the state were disappointed with the current decision of state government and party high command to nominate Congress spokesperson and Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi as a Congress candidate for Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal. He is an outsider, while several Congress leaders of state were in a favour to nominate Congress candidate for Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal a Congress leader of state not an outsider.
