PM Modi Chairs First Governing Body Meeting of Anusandhan National Research Foundation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the inaugural meeting of the Governing Body of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) at his residence today. The session focused on enhancing India’s research and development landscape and setting a strategic direction for future scientific endeavors.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of removing obstacles within the research ecosystem and setting ambitious goals for groundbreaking research. He highlighted the importance of localizing solutions to global problems and proposed the development of a dashboard to streamline the tracking of research and development activities.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need for scientific monitoring of research resources and suggested grading Atal Tinkering Labs to boost their effectiveness. Discussions included advancing research in areas such as environmental solutions, electric vehicle components, and lab-grown diamonds.
The Governing Body decided to implement a “hub and spoke” program pairing emerging research universities with established institutions for mentorship. Additionally, ANRF will initiate mission-mode research programs in priority areas like Electric Vehicle mobility, advanced materials, solar cells, smart infrastructure, and more.
The meeting outlined strategies to align ANRF’s efforts with national goals, such as Viksit Bharat 2047, and global best practices. Plans to establish Centers of Excellence for interdisciplinary research in humanities and social sciences were also approved.
The meeting was attended by notable figures including Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, and leading academics from institutions such as Princeton University and Brown University. ANRF aims to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across India’s research landscape.
